PS/SPS User Meeting
PS report, (Ana Guerrero):
Problems with F61S.BHZ01, needing resets and generating radiation alarms since Thursday night to Tuesday. Problems on the Transfert Dampers (water leak) required to return to CT extraction on Friday between 3-4 AM to 10AM. Durring the MD on Wednesday, improvements of try TOF extraction (dedicated & parasitic). 1 hour stop for the Linac as to take place today 11:30-12:30. Frank Gunsing commented that the TOF cycles are no longer visible in Timber.
SPS report, (Karel Cornelis):
Overall very good running. Problem on the dump kicker Wednesday 2AM-10AM (Thyristor switch exchange + conditioning)
T8 Irrad: excused, in access. Federico Ravotti communicated before the meeting that the run is pursuing fine. In the week of October 12, they would like to use the blown up beam, for CHARM, and it may require tuning.
T9 SHiP Emulsions: Run progressing well with the emulsions in the magnet.
T10: Andrey Reshetin showed a couple of slides on the ALICE Fast Interaction Trigger (FIT) setup in T10. They run in collaboration with the ITS and AD group.
T11 CLOUD: Absent. Lau Gatignon reported they started operating with beam (3/5 spills to north branch)
H2 NA61: Antoni Aduszkievicz reported the VTX1 magnet is warming up. The VTX2 is kept of till and upgrade of its quench protection system. With both magnets off the run will continue till October 21 for PSD calibration & test measurements for the neutrino program. If it is possible to turn on VTX2, then the 2 last weeks will be used, if not they will be cancelled.
H4 P348: Paolo Crivelli reported the detectors was installed and their resolution checked. Work went into studying the synchrotron tagging. The data collection start today for a week. Dragoslav Lazic mentioned CMS EE upgrade is ready to start next eek.
H6 CERF: The beam alignment went very fast. They reported problems with the access system, Nikolaos Charitonidis will follow this up. Joern Lange reported the ATLAS ITK-AFP run was a success.
H8: No particular issues with the LHCb run. Giulio Usai reported that the TILECAL module was installed on the moveable table, and that they would like now to move the table in the zone to commission the new controls. Marco Bozzo reminded of the importance for Totem to be able to collect as much data as possible before the end of the run. It was agreed that the zone will left closed and with beams reaching Totem at nights and during weekends. Ilias Efthymiopoulos brought up that the Geneva telescope needs to be removed and as well as its concret blocs before moving the table in.
NA62: Francesca Bucci reported that last Thursday NA62 increased the beam intensity to 50% nominal, then after an hour lowered to 35%. Later at this setting DAQ problems appeared repeatidly every ~30mn between 9:30pm and 1:30am. On Saturday the problems appeared again, up to Monday, and again on Tuesday. Lau Gatignon mentioned there was a problem on a Quadruple coming and going, correlated with high radiation levels. The problem on the Quad was fixed yesterday. There is also a problem with the access system. Occasionally the names of the persons accessing the zone do not appear on the access system display. Karel Cornelis asked when NA62 plans to go to full intensity. This seems feasible in the last 2 weeks of the run. Karel would like to test the MTE with more intensity delivered to the targets, this before the MTE review on October 22nd. For the users of the secondary beams the intensity could be kept at the current level using smaller TAX holes and collimators. It was therefore agreed to schedule such a test for next week.
COMPASS: Excused due to collaboration week.
Supercyle: 3/5 East-A, 2/5 EASTB. Target intensities, wobbling as is.
Safety: Maurici Gallofe-Vila reported a new Safety poster is available. The PH Safety office is also preparing a new ISIEC.
