PS/SPS User Meeting
PS report (Jakub Wozniak):
A good run till Monday early morning. Then there was a power distribution failure on Isolde, which got protected by a circuit barker taking out most of the injector complex on the Meyrin site. Recovering this major event took 13hours. On Thursday morning a problem on the PS-Booster distributor took 2 hours to solve.
SPS report (Benoit Salvant):
Good week, only affected by the problems on the SPS injector chain. Ongoing tests on the MTE, increasing the intensity by 15%. The access problems on ECN3 should be solved since yesterday.
T8 CHARM (Salvatore Danzeca):
The CHARM facility is trying to operate in the blown up beam configuration since yesterday. However the beam is too narrow still, despite loading the past configurations (June 1rst, 22nd). Jakub Wozniak will follow this up with the operators. When beam condition will be good, CHARM will operate for the users.
T9: Richard Jacobsson reported that the SHiP emulsion run completed all the foreseen tests, also those on the auxiliary program. Preliminary results are expected after development tof the emulsions. Motoi INABA presented slides on the ALICE FOCAL testbeam. Two types of Si sensors will be compared. An electron trigger will be needed from the Cherenkov signals. Most likely the electron rich target will be better to use. An XY table will be needed for the run at the SPS. Richard Jacobsson presented slide on the upcoming SHiP muon run. Different combination of scintillator, wavelength shifting five and photo detectors will be evaluated. For this run the hadron rich target is requested.
T10: absent.
T11 CLOUD (Hamish Gordon):
The cloud installation has been upgraded with new O3 and N02 excitement lasers and strong LED lamps as well as a new particle phase mass spectrometer sensitive in the 10nm to nano particle range. The program foresees study of the Aerosol formation in the Hyytilia forest atmosphere conditions and Nucleation rates as function of temperature and oxydation sources concentration.
nTOF (Frank Gunsing):
The Be7 target was removed from EAR1. Neutron imaging is the new experiment there. In EAR2 new detectors are being installed. No beam Monday -> Wednesday. Thursday & Friday no beam during day time.
H2 NA61 (Antoni Aduzskiewicz):
The PSD calibration run finished. VTX2 remains off. The data taking for the neutrino program goes on in no field configuration.
H4: efficient hand over.
H6 RD42 (Mathieu Goffe):
3 telescopes running. Low intensity beam yesterday (4mmx1mm). Dominik Dannheim mentions CLICpix is running parasitically to RD42 in H6B.
H8 TILECal (Ilya Korolkov):
Resdout test ongoing. Will use electrons tomorrow.
NA62:
Closed TAX as the high intensity test is on going for the MTE beam. This weekend stable DAQ at 40% nominal. Next week Na62 will use very lo intensity for efficiency studies. High intensity the week after.
COMPASS:
MTE beam is OK. Saterday instabilities in the beam trajectory were observed.
Safety Bruno Picher:
Bruno's successor is Maurici Galofre-Villa. Bruno thanked the user community for the safe operation and friendly interaction had with all of them in the many years he served as PH safety officer.
