Description
Asymmetrically gauged WZNW theories, such as the Nappi-Witten background ("big-bang big-crunch space-time"), possess many features which distinguish them from ordinary coset theories. In particular, the construction of D-branes is a challenging issue due to the heterotic nature of the world-sheet theory. Based on our general results on (symmetry breaking) D-branes in asymmetric cosets we propose the geometry of branes in the Nappi-Witten background. A crucial role will be played by non-factorizing branes which descend from SL(2,R) x SU(2).
