This lecture will explain the importance of re-purposing monitoring data for other areas than just visualisation. With our current Ganglia monitors and the continuous adoption of Cloud Computing, we are monitoring order of thousands of VMs throughout the world, and one very important matter when it comes to cloud resources is their usage efficiency. In addition to the status monitoring of the Virtual Machines, one can think of re-purposing this raw monitoring data in order to automatize the process of detecting erratic behaviours and issuing notifications accordingly, providing then the opportunity on the provisioning side for a fixing reaction.
