Description

The D4Science infrastructure is currently supporting two eScience communities, Environmental Monitoring and Fisheries and Aquaculture Resources Management, by providing them with Virtual Research Environments (VREs). VREs provide scientists with a dynamically aggregated environment consisting of data, services and computing and storage capabilities. D4Science builds upon the EGEE infrastructure and gLite technology to promote data generation, integration, enrichment, and curation. The objective of this talk is threefold: to emphasize the characteristics of these large communities and their needs; to present the role of the D4Science infrastructure that acts as mediator and facilitator for these communities ; to speculate on possible exploitation of the SSC model to formalize this mediator role.
