Participants who are arriving at Pittsburgh International Airport should check the Transportation link to the left. Most participants are staying at the Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center Hotel on campus, which is a few blocks from the site of the workshop in University Club Ballroom A. A map of the area is available below.

There are no workshop fees but participants are responsible for the costs of their hotel rooms ($145 per room per day plus incidentals) as well as lunches and evening meals at local restaurants. There is no charge for the Tuesday evening banquet at Allegheny Observatory. As part of the workshop, continental breakfast is available in Ballroom A each morning.

Background: “Gas/Galaxies on Top of Quasars (GOTOQ),” also referred to as “Galaxies in Absorption,” is the 7th in a series of workshops intended to explore all aspects of gas and galaxies probed in absorption using bright background sources such as quasars, gamma-ray burst afterglows, etc. Previous meetings of researchers working in this area were organized in Chicago (2009), Marseille (2010), Boulder (2011), Pune (2012), Marseille (2013), and Paris (2014). The upcoming workshop on 25 - 27 April 2016 is being hosted by the PITTsburgh Particle physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology Center (PITT PACC), Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA 15260.
