Description

The purpose of this research is to study structure and particle size of PbTe thermoelectric material prepared by hydrothermal method. Thermoelectric AgPb18SbTe20 alloy were prepared from compounds of AgNO3, Pb(NO3)2, SbCl3 and TeO2 by hydrothermal method with different heating temperature and time. Then, the samples were dried in vacuum furnace for 6 h. After that the structure and particle size were characterized by XRD and SEM, respectively. The observed XRD peaks for (111), (200), (220), (311), (222), (400), (420) and (422) can be indexed to FCC rock-salt structure of PbTe. The most suitable condition for hydrothermal process is 200 oC of heating temperature and 20h of heating time due to the cube shape grains with the size of ~100-200 nm and shaped into a cube.
