Description
The bi-weekly meeting of the LHC librarians and LCG/AA projects
News === - LCG 55c has been released. It contains a POOL bugfix version and changes for the longterm possibility to compile the 55 series on slc5. Currently being used by LHCb. - LCG 56 is in preparation. There has been a lot of improvements in the last days weeks on this in the nightly builds. Below a list of still pending issues. - common/new cmt. In order to use the new CMT version v1r20p20080222 the fragments for application linking need to be changed. This has been done and tested for COOL and CORAL by Andrea and will be imported into the general LCGCMT fragments. - Boost 1.37 - a patch release for Boost 1.37 is pending. We will selectively include changes from their repo trunk in order to fix 2 issues. I.e. a problem with gccxml while parsing a boost header file and fix compilation warnings issued by gcc 4.3. - python 2.5.4. A new version of python will be deployed. This will include several changes, i.e. enable the "sqlite module", readline support for osx and static linking of the python executable. - oracle / slc5. Some oracle tests are not executing properly because of SELinux. There is a chance that we cannot fix this ourselves but have to wait for a new version of the oracle client. To be investigated - windows coral tests. The test suite of CORAL is not being executed properly on windows platforms. This is likely to be a problem in the configuation of the tests and is currently under investigation - compat libraries. In order to run slc4 binaries on a slc5 host a number of extra system libraries have to be available which are only part of standard slc4 and not slc5. These libraries have been identified and given to FIO. In addition these libraries can be also deployed as a separate package / project in the LCG/AA environment Round table === CMS --- - Working on porting to ROOT 5.22 - not finished. Some problems have been identified and are being investigated together with the ROOT team. Aob --- - The LIM meeting will be held in the future bi-weekly on Tue 11.00 am in sync with the Thu AF meetings.
