Hot Quarks 2016 Workshop - HQ 2016
===================================
First Circular
We are very pleased to announce that the 7th workshop in the Hot Quarks series
will be held September 12-17, 2016, on South Padre Island, Texas, USA.
The aim of this workshop is to enhance the direct exchange of
scientific information among the younger members of the Relativistic
Heavy Ion community, both from the experiments and theory. Therefore we
especially want to encourage postdoctoral fellows, advanced graduate
students, and junior faculty and research staff to apply.
Topics that will be addressed include:
- QCD at high temperature/density and lattice QCD
- Initial state effects and Color Glass Condensate
- Relativistic hydrodynamic and collective phenomena
- Correlations and fluctuations
- Jets in the vacuum and in the medium
- Baryons and strangeness
- Heavy flavor, dileptons and photons
- Applications of String Theory and AdS/CFT
- Experimental techniques and future programs
The workshop program is divided into morning and afternoon/evening sessions
each consisting of short (~20 min) presentations and typically one longer
overview talk. Each session is followed by a relatively long (~1hr) Question&Answer
session. Active participation is encouraged in the Q&A sessions.
Ample free time between lunch and the afternoon session and after
dinner is planned in order to enhance informal interactions. The
number of participants will be restricted to <80. Every participant
will give an oral presentation. All participants are expected to be present
on the workshop premises throughout the duration of the conference.
The KKG Award is awarded for the best presentation at the conference. The
prize is dedicated to the memory of Klaus Kinder Geiger,
who perished on the Swiss Air flight 111 from New York to Geneva in
1998.
If you are interested in attending HQ2016 please pre-register and submit an
abstract through our workshop website at http://hq2016.bnl.gov. Pre-registration
and abstract submission will open this March and close on June 3. Due to the
limited number of participants, and the high interest in attending this workshop,
speakers will be selected from the list of submissions after registration closes on June 3,
and notified via email.
Further details about the program and the workshop venue will also be
posted on this web http://hq2016.bnl.gov.
