VENUE
The WP11 topical meeting will be held at the Valletta Campus of the University of Malta.
The Valletta Campus has two entrances, one on St. Paul Street and another on Merchants Street.
FROM THE AIRPORT to VALLETTA & SLIEMA
Malta Airport to Valletta University Campus
Take the X4 bus to the main bus terminal in Valletta (est. time 30 minutes) and get off at stop Valletta 18. Walk about 10 minutes from there along Triq Ir-Repubblika, Triq Melita and Triq San Pawl.
Total est time: 45 minutes
From Malta Airport to Sliema
Take the X2 bus to Sliema which runs hourly (est. time 1 hour)
Take the X4 bus to Valletta which runs every 20 minutes (est. time 30 minutes) and get off at stop Bombi. Change bus to number 13, 14, 16 to Sliema (or 15 & 21 to Sliema Ferries only) (est. time 20 minutes).
Total est time: 1 hour
By Taxi from Malta International Airport
A taxi stand is also available at the airport. Taxi service from the airport is available 24 hours a day to any destination in Malta, including Sliema and Valletta. Fixed rates are applicable and pre-paid tickets can be purchased from the ticket booth at Arrivals. For rates and more details you can click here. You should pay around 20 Euros. The journey when there is less traffic takes around 30 minutes.
FROM SLIEMA TO VALLETTA
A bus from Sliema (hotels) to the University Campus has been organised on Thursday and Friday morning leaving at 08:15am sharp from in front of the Marks and Spencer’s shop on the Sliema waterfront, which is about a 10 minute walk from the recommended hotels (see map). You will then be dropped off at the Siege Bell War Memorial in Valletta, a short walk from the University Campus.
From Sliema to and from Valletta University Campus
Take bus 13, 14, 15 or 16 to stop Valletta 18 and walk about 10 minutes from there along Triq Ir-Repubblika, Triq Melita and Triq San Pawl.
Total est time: 40 minutes without traffic
OR by Ferry
Catch a ferry across from Sliema to Valletta. See map for departure and arrival points. The timetable is here: http://www.vallettaferryservices.com/schedule.html. Total est. time around 45 minutes.
Please note that during the hours of 7am to 9am and 4:30pm to 7pm, traffic is heavy and any journey will take much longer.
TICKETS
Two hour tickets costing €2 can be bought from the bus driver. 7-day “explore” travel cards can be bought for 21 Euros, and 12-journey “explore” cards can be bought for 15 Euros from the ticket office at the airport, or from bus stations in Valletta.
