Description
Muon systems of the FCC detectors will have to cover areas of 1000's of square meters and posses accurate time and coordinate resolutions all at a reasonable cost. Among attractive options is use of newly available SiPMs to readout wavelength shifting fibers imbedded in long extruded scintillator strips. We present results of the test beam studies of such detectors where time resolution of 0.3ns and coordinate resolution along the strip of 5 cm have been obtained. We will further discuss how perfromance of such strips scales with the length of the strip and main features of the FCC detector muon system based on this innovative technology.
