Developer's meeting

→ Europe/Zurich

present: Giovanna, Enrico, Roland, Eric, Lynn, Kevin, Mark, Rene, Milo, Frank

Enrico: summary of achievements during the ProtoDUNE-focused developers half-week at Nikhef, March 13-15

  • Full-mode FELIX internal "to-host" emulation: thanks to Henk Boterenbrood, this can now be done (it uses 8 fixed frames as generated by Milo)
    • NB frames crossing a Chunk (1 kB) boundary get the last four bytes dropped -- to be fixed (or is perhaps fixed already)
  • still an issue running the software back-end (felixcore)
    • Mark: felixcore doesn't know about Full mode versus GBT mode; any issues should be in link configuration. Will follow up offline
  • could hack the FELIX internal to-host emulation to obtain an incrementing timestamp (would take some weeks of work)

Planning:

  • aim to be integrated for the next Milestone week (starting on May 8).
    • emulation: will follow up with Rene offline
      • debate about data generation in Rene's emulator or inside the FELIX emulator part; preference (Giovanna + Frank) to have this in Rene's emulator (should be easiest if it has a s/w backend to talk to!)
    • Giovanna: can Milo help modifying the frame generator so as to work in synchronisation with the rest of the DAQ? Milo: OK
      • will require acting on messages from run control and (re)setting timestamp upon start of run
    • s/w: Roland working on trigger
      • Giovanna: trigger request will be coming from the event builder (i.e., no separate trigger messages) in the form of timestamp + event number messages
  • request by Giovanna: prepare a small presentation in ~ 2-3 weeks on the general progress

Other:

  • requests from Eric:
    • access to s/w and f/w? Should all be on Sharepoint
      • Giovanna: can get you added (for s/w)
      • Mark: can add you (for f/w), just send me your (light-weight or not) accounts
    • how to figure out version numbers? Mark: just use -v option for software
  • next meeting: tentatively in two weeks' time
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
    • 17:00 → 17:20
