present: Enrico, Roland, Eric, Milo, Frank
Progress and planning towards next Milestone week starting May 8:
- see diagram ("Plan A") posted by Enrico; we discussed mostly the various items on this diagram
- Frame generation:
- in contrast to what's indicated on the diagram, Milo's plan is to pre-generate only a few frames and store these on the VC709 card (avoiding worries about DMA transfer rate etc.)
- according to Frans, it should be fairly straightforward to increment the timestamp and recompute the CRC (nice as this will allow for an -offline- check of the data integrity)
- note: update to data frame format as shown by Eric Hazen on March 13 is ongoing
- transfer from "uploader" VC709 card to FELIX VC709 card:
- Full mode bug not fixed yet (to our knowledge)
- high priority item! Contact the FELIX core developers' team to ask them when they intend to have this fixed (ideally at least a week before the M-week, to allow for more testing of other components)
- felixcore: in Full Mode, this is not yet functioning properly
- suspicion (from Enrico) is that this could be related to the above-mentioned firmware bug. Will attempt to investigate [ comment after the meeting: Mark confirmed that the firmware bug also will cause problems for felixcore ]
- triggering:
- initial thinking was that it would not be feasible to use artdaq v2 EventBuilder to trigger, and therefore the plan was to concoct a solution "locally"
- however, Eric suggests that this should be doable after all (and that he can help Roland set this up)
- in this setting, there needs to be some co-ordination (at least a rough synchronisation) between the EventBuilder and the frame generator
- planning:
- presence at CERN during M-week: Enrico, Roland. Should investigate possibility to have one or more of the core FELIX developers nearby. Will investigate attendance at least from the Nikhef side.
Talk in April 10 DAQ meeting:
- speaker: Roland
- allotted time not very clear (guess: 20 -- 30 minutes)
- Roland will circulate draft slides before the weekend
There are minutes attached to this event.
