Accomodation
A limited number of rooms has been pre-booked at the CERN Hostel for the first week of the meeting. To request one, please send mail to angela.ricci@cern.ch, indicating the precise dates.
Alternatively, a list of suggested hotels in the area is provided on the CERN housing service webpage. Special rates are usually applied for CERN visitors.
Notice that the main CERN entrance is in Switzerland, while some of the suggested hotels are located in France. Public transportation from locations in Geneva, Meyrin or Cointrin is efficient, but not from hotels located on the french side. Additionally several hotels have shuttles.
Access to CERN and VISA
Those in need of an access card to CERN should say so in the registration form, and will receive instructions few days before the meeting. VISA requests will be handled promptly, but please let us know up to six weeks before your intended travel date.
Computing access
In order to have access to the Internet connection for your laptop, you need to register it via the online registration form. Enter your data and the hardware address and card type of your device (you can register at the same time both wireless and ethernet hardware addresses of the same machine can be registered at the same time). Enter your arrival and departure dates and the reason of your visit
as contact person select Gianolio, Elena (TH department, APS group).
You can register as many devices as you need in this way (please one registration for device).
Once at CERN, if you did not registered your device earlier or if something went wrong, just open a web browser and follow the indication you will get on it.
TH department, CERN hostels and main buildings are also covered by EDUROAM network.
Health insurance
In view of the extremely high cost of health care in Geneva, we strongly recommend that all participants ensure that they have health insurance cover valid for Switzerland for the duration of their stay, covering illness and accidents. This is a standard requirement for all visitors to CERN and you should carry proof of insurance with you.
