- LCG 56b has been released. No problems reported so far. Release info available at http://lcgsoft.cern.ch/index.py?page=cfg_overview&cfg=56b
- New enhancements in LCGCMT
- Possibility to express optional dependencies via the pattern "use_optional" and then setting the tag "<package>_use_<dependent package>. Examples e.g. in LCG_Interfaces/ROOT, CORAL, RELAX
- New set defined "host_cmtconfig" which is a CMT computed value for AA platforms for CMTCONFIG. This may be used for setting automatically CMTCONFIG.
- A first set of tests for the "slc4 compat" mode have been executed. SPI has produced a list of "system library" dependencies on slc4, this list has been used by GD to generate a "meta rpm" to pull in these dependencies on slc5, which has been deployed on a test slc5 worker node. This test node has been used to run AA project test suites. All tests of POOL, COOL, CORAL and RELAX are running fine. The ROOT stress tests (./stress -b 30) are also ok. The full testsuite of ROOT will not run (roottest) as this also includes compilations e.g. via aclick. For this compilation issues we need more system headers which are currently being investigated.
Round Table
===
LHCb
---
- Testing latest version of CMT v1r20p20090520 hoping to switch soon.
- Generic Makefile available will replace tbroadcast and make -j. This could be imported into LCGCMT and made available more wide.
Atlas
---
- Using v1r20p20090520 since several weeks.
- 15.3.0 available since last week (using LCG 56a), compiled on slc5 32bit and 64bit mode. Validation on slc5 is pending.
- Switching slowly to lxdistcc cluster. Renaming of distcc compiler name needed for gcc 4.3.2 is needed (lcg-gcc-4.3.2)
CMS
---
- 3.1.0 has been released, close to 56a. One problem with ROOT/Reflex, currently investigated by the ROOT team. Starting to compare slc4 and slc5 outputs in large scale.
- Looking into what kinds of warnings and errors to enable for gcc 4.3.2 compilations. Eg inline-hidden
Root
---
- ROOT 5.22.00c needs to be rebuilt for libfftw, this library was previously linked against the archive of the "external" libfftw. Now as shared libraries are available it uses shared libs.
- GFAL in the external area is available only for different versions on slc4 and slc5. This makes it more difficult to e.g. release the ROOT project. The concern has been reported to GD.
Persistency
---
- CORAL tests are all green as of today in the nightlies (one test was failing so far).
- 56b contains the first release of CORALSERVER. Not everything of security is included, because of problems with voms on slc4 and slc5. Idea was to use the new voms version which depends on the system ssl (not anymore globus). Will work because globus will also use the system ssl on slc5.
