The workshop venue, the IMR, locates in Sendai City, where participants can reach by trains or flights from major international airports in Japan.

JR Sendai Station is the main entrance for Sendai City, and is also the closest JR station to the IMR.

From JR Sendai Station, you can get to the IMR using public transportation services such as a subway or taxi. It takes only 20 minutes on foot from JR Sendai Station to the IMR.

From Narita International Airport to JR Sendai Station

Narita International Airport (NRT) is the most major international airport in Japan.

From Narita Airport, there are two domestic flights per day to Sendai Airport (SDJ). After arriving at Sendai Airport, Sendai Airport Acess Line will take you to JR Sendai Station (25 min). 

Alternatively, you can reach Sendai by trains from the Narita Airport. From, the airport, take Narita Express (N'EX) and get off at JR Tokyo Station (about 1 hour). Once you arrive at JR Tokyo Station, take JR Tohoku Shinkansen and get off at JR Sendai Station (1 hour 30 min).

From Haneda International Airport to JR Sendai Station

Haneda International Airport (HND) is located near downtown Tokyo and is provided with easy accesses to JR Tokyo Station.

After arriving at Haneda Airport, take Tokyo Monorail and get off at Hamamatsu-Cho terminal (13 - 20 min), and transfer to JR Keihin-Tohoku Line or JR Yamanote Line. Either of them take you to JR Tokyo Station in 4 or 6 min. From JR Tokyo Station, take JR Tohoku Shinkansen and get off at JR Sendai Station (1 hour 30 min by Hayabusa, which is the fastest train).

From Kansai International Airport to JR Sendai Station

Kansai International Airport (KIX) might be an alternative destination of your flight, which locates about 500 km west to Tokyo. If you plan to visist Osaka or Kyoto as well, Kansai Airport is convenient.

Domestic flights connect Kansai Airport and Sendai Airport in 1 hour 20 min. After arriving at Sendai Airport, take Sendai Airport Acess Line, which then will take you directly to JR Sendai Station (25 min).

From JR Sendai Station to the IMR

On foot (20 min): 

From the West Exit of JR Sendai Station, it takes 20 minutes on foot to the IMR.

Subway (8 min): 

Subway Tozai Line is the direct service for all of the participants heading for the IMR from JR Sendai Station.

After arriving at JR Sendai Station, go to the station of Subway Tozai Line which is situated adjacent to JR Sendai Station (3 min walk).

Then take a train there, which bounds for Yagiyama Zoological Park Station, get off at Aobadori-Ichibancho Station, and go to "South exit 1". From the exit, it takes 5 or 10 minutes on foot to the IMR.

Taxi (10 min):

You can catch a taxi near the west exit of JR Sendai Station.

Please tell the driver "KINKEN", which means the IMR in Japanese, at Katahira Campus of Tohoku University for the destination.
