The EMMI workshop Challenges in Photon Induced Interactions will be hosted
by the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cracow, Poland.
Date:
- workshop: Wednesday, September 6 - Friday, September 8, 2017
- student day: Tuesday, September 5, 2017
The aim of this workshop is to evaluate the present understanding of photon-induced processes at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and to discuss the potential of the photon-physics programmes of the LHC experiments in future data taking.
Scientific topics:
- Processes induced by photons at the MeV scale
- Ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and the LHC
- Photo-nuclear processes as probes of gluon distribution in nuclei
- Photons as partons in the nucleon
- Photo-excitations of baryon resonances
- γγ → γγ scattering in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions
- γγ-physics at e+e- colliders
- γγ → γγ scattering in laser induced reactions
- The physics of strong electromagnetic fields
- The search for beyond Standard Model Physics in γγ-collisions
