The EMMI workshop Challenges in Photon Induced Interactions will be hosted  
by the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cracow, Poland.

Date:

The aim of this workshop is to evaluate the present understanding of photon-induced processes at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and to discuss the potential of the photon-physics programmes of the LHC experiments in future data taking.

  • Processes induced by photons at the MeV scale
  • Ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and the LHC
  • Photo-nuclear processes as probes of gluon distribution in nuclei
  • Photons as partons in the nucleon
  • Photo-excitations of baryon resonances
  • γγ → γγ scattering in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions
  • γγ-physics at e+e- colliders
  • γγ → γγ scattering in laser induced reactions
  • The physics of strong electromagnetic fields
  • The search for beyond Standard Model Physics in γγ-collisions
