Approval of Minutes

Communications

  • Upgrade of PSB Cooling Station Meeting (8th of June 2017).
  • LIU Project meeting (8th of June and 15th of June 2017): SMB, controls. An LIU-BI review concerning beam size measurements will happen the 22nd of November 2017.
  • 206th IEFC Meeting (16th of June 2017):
    • EDMS document concerning the YETS2017/18 planning was presented. Waiting for the minutes to see if there were comments or if it was approved as such.
    • The delay to enter the activity and service request in PLAN for LS2 has been extended by two months and should be completed as soon as possible by all equipment groups.

Follow-up of Open Actions

C. Bracco, V. Forte (2017-06-30) “Study collimation and losses in the injection line”:

  • A FLUKA simulation needs to be done for the protection device. There doesn’t seem to be space for a collimator, so they propose to put a mask in front of the distributor. Action: delay the deadline.

T. Dobers (2017-05-31) “Report about the issues with the alignment of the PSB equipment and progress with the fabrication of a tilt measurement tool”:

  • Will orally report the status of the tilt measurement tool for the bending magnets in the next LIU meeting the 4th of July.

Bundle actions concerning the PSB transfer line (2017-06-15):

  • An update will be presented the 18th of July by Wolfgang Bartmann and Benoit Riffaud.

Status of SEM Grids for Matching Monitors by J. Tan

  • The new SEM grids are composed of very fragile wires and they will need to be operated in dedicated mode.
  • Only one pair of monitors will be permanently installed in ring 3.
  • The blow-up per turn is almost one order of magnitude lower than the expected emittance with the proposed graphite wires, so the measurement is possible.
  • Support from LIU is needed in order to set the production of the tank as a high priority (September-October 2017).

Comments

  • B. Mikulec wanted to know when the tank production is currently planned with MME. Action J. Tan: to be checked with R. Veness.
  • B. Mikulec asked if we can we synchronize the sampling rate with the RF. Action J. Tan: to be checked.
  • B. Mikulec asked if the commissioning next year at injection with Linac 2 at 50 MeV would be possible since the wires might burn. J. Tan proposes in inject only half a turn and reduce the Linac2 current, but this would mean a reduced signal height. Action J. Tan: verify that the measurements can be done at 50 MeV.
  • B. Mikulec asked about the date of installation of the final board, which should be some time before the end of 2018. Action J. Tan: to be checked with G-J. Focker.
  • J. Ferreira proposed to already validate the actuators for vacuum compatibility.
  • E. Fortescue-Beck asked if the SEM grids would need some OASIS signals defined by BI. B. Mikulec answered that there is a recent request of having one OASIS channel for one wire that the user can choose. This is already possible in terms of control, but it has never been connected. Specifications for this request are underway. E. Fortescue-Beck also wanted to know if an existing FEC will be used. Action J. Tan: verify.
  • Check if the cables of the SEM grid are in EN-EL’s pipeline for the next YETS. Action G. M. Georgiev and K. Hanke.

AOB

LIU-PSB EVM by S. Prodon

  • Globally the LIU-PSB project is in line with the projections, and the situation has improved since May.
  • TE-ABT and EN-HE have very low commitments for this time of the year, which should increase. A discussion with EN-HE might be needed. W. Weterings will send some updates from TE-ABT to S. Prodon.

Tour de table

  • R. Froeschl asked about the stripping efficiency of the Linac 4 foil observed during the half sector test, which was of 99% instead of the 98% estimated in the EDMS document 1580006. B. Mikulec suggested to look at the presentation by C. Bracco in the MSWG Meeting and the IPAC’17 paper MOPIK041, but another percent is expected to come from beam halo passing the stripping foil.
  • E. Fortescue-Beck reminded that the deadline for YETS2017/18 hardware and software requests and OASIS is at the end of September 2017.
  • F. Schmidt commented on the EDMS document by A. Newborough on the installation of new damping resistors during LS2. He asked about the changes that are being made in the model of the transmission line, which will increase the resistance in the damping resistor and will, therefore, make the damping less efficient. This will be followed off-line with A. Newborough.
  • J. Devine reported that the installation for the first Finemet cavity is finished.
  • M. Haase mentioned that a full Finemet cavity including supports and other infrastructure is now available.
  • T. W. Birtwistle reported that the document on magnetic cycles after LS2, by S. Albright, is now released. The document reference is PSB-OP-ES-0001.
  • B. Mikulec reminded that we need the ECRs for the matching monitors in time.
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
