Survey and positioning of buried infrastructure networks are crucial issues for their maintenance and a starting point for every new Civil Engineering project.
3DCity is a research & development project which consists in a development of software providing a method for quick underground pipe networks surveying and holographic visualization, by using Microsoft HoloLens devices.

Which technology can help today improve Parkinson disease treatments, or age assessment for migrant children... and to improve waste management in refugee camps ?
THEPort is solving urging humanitarian issue with technology since 2014. We will share with you what we have learnt so far and get you inspired to tackle the our upcoming challenges.

The Vim editor offers one of the cleverest user interfaces. It's why many developers write programs with vi keyboard bindings. Now, imagine how powerful it gets to build applications literally on top of Vim itself.

The CODING SCIENCE DAYS are an opportunity for STEM Teachers and students aged 12 to 18 to get familiar with programming using original scientific projects designed by educators, this year featuring exciting kits such as :

      • Poppy Ergo Jr (a very fun robotic arm),
      • Hepialight (an educational microcontroller designed at hepia, the Geneva engineering school)
      • Muon Hunter (a DIY cosmic particle detector)
      • Chiby (a programmable touchscreen based on Python pygamezero)
Speakers: Brice Copy (CERN) , Ralf Erik Rossel (Johannes Gutenberg Universitaet Mainz (DE))

Learning about CERN can be fun. The LHC Interactive Tunnel (LIT) is an immersive installation where the public can experience the thrill of the research being done at CERN. From proton collisions, to the Higgs Field and Hadron Therapy, become an actor of the process of discovery in a playful way.

Resonances, periodicity, patterns and spectra: well-known notions that play crucial roles both in science and music. This short talk will focus on analysing data and their relations by translating measurements into audible signals and using the natural capability of the ear to distinguish, characterise and analyse waveform shapes, amplitudes and relations. This process is called data sonification.

Speakers: Domenico Vicinanza (Anglia Ruskin University and GEANT) , Genevieve Williams (University of Exeter, UK)

Online social networks and other cloud-based services have concentrated the control of the web in the hands of a few corporations.

Our personal data has been commodified, often without our knowledge or consent. Is there a way to retain all the benefits of social networking without giving up control of our data?
