Safety recommendations
The area around the Universidad Nacional is reasonably safe; it is recommended however, to take precautions as in any other major city. Try not to display mobile phones, cameras, laptops or cash, out on the street, and be mindful of your bags when at restaurants or cafes. Taxis are in general safe, but it is advisable to ask the hotel or restaurant to get you one, or use one of the taxi apps available for Bogota. Uber works very well. It is recommended not to walk alone late at night, after 8-9 pm.
Money exchange can be done at the airport, shopping centres, or money exchange offices around touristy areas. Do not hesitate to ask one of the organisers if you have any doubts.
