"Magnetic Materials"
Magnetic materials are used in many different pulse applications, from small pulse transformers to kicker magnets. The use of these materials in pulse application has some unique considerations. A short review of basic magnetic material concepts, some material fabrication background, and some pulse measurement techniques will be presented. Two examples with emphasis on soft ferrite materials will be presented, one of a fast ferrite kicker magnet and one of a saturating ferrite for kicker pulse sharpening. Recent experience in the USA with procurement of large ferrite shapes will also be presented.
