Please consider proposing a presentation for the Symposium on any topic related to the Center's goal and the sessions we have scheduled.
Many scientific disciplines are rapidly increasing the size, variety and complexity of data they must work with. As the data grows, scientists are challenged to manage, share and analyze those data and become diverted from a focus on their scientific research to data-access and data-management concerns. Even more problematic is determining how to support many scientists sharing and accessing this ever increasing amount of data. This symposium is intended to bring together those interested in these topics to share experiences and best practices, and to discuss both challenges and possible solutions that enable scientists to work together on “big, distributed or diverse data”.
We have scheduled sessions in the following areas and welcome abstracts for any of them.
- Science Use Cases: Presentations on the science use cases for collaboratively extracting scientific results from large, diverse or distributed data. Talks should describe the science and the associated requirements. Of special interest are any details about limitations and challenges being experienced in this science domain. Presentations can also discuss what kinds of new capabilities would benefit work in their area.
- Related Projects: Any work already underway to address any of the challenges regarding large diverse data, distributed collaboration, multi-institutional science challenges, etc.
- User Sessions: Presentations on users experiences, challenges, requirements and desired capabilities. Abstracts for "lightning talks" (5-10 minutes) as well as regular presentations (25+5 minutes) are welcome.
- Practical Experiences: Presentations covering practical experiences regarding the Symposiums focus. Talks should cover what has been done, challenges encountered and goals for future work.
Please target 1000 words or less in your abstract submission. We will notify you by September 28th as to whether the abstract was accepted or declined. If you need expedited notification please email us.
