Workshop fee
On the practical side. For the workshop we foresee a fee of 120 euros (70 euros for those just participating to the first open day and the workshop dinner), which covers three lunches, coffee breaks, a nice dinner on Wednesday evening at Les Foudres restaurant (http://www.lesfoudres.be/index.cfm?langue=EN) and a workshop drink on Thursday evening.
The fee should be paid in cash upon arrival to Marleen Goeman
Accomodation
We let participants take care of the hotel, as Brussels offers plenty of good opportunities for nice accommodations.
The closest housing option to VUB is the U-residence: http://www.u-residence.be/en/ (located at VUB campus), but attention: there is no breakfast! There are efficient tram, bus and metro connections to VUB from the Brussels center (more info on http://www.stib-mivb.be), so we recommend participants to have a look at booking.com for available hotel options in Brussels.
Venue
The workshop, the lunches and the workshop beer, will all take place on the VUB campus:
https://www.google.be/maps/place/Vrije+Universiteit+Brussel
If you come directly from Brussels Airport (Zaventem) you can reach the VUB campus Etterbeek very easily by train: our campus is located next to the railway station "Etterbeek". A taxi from the airport will cost you aprox. 30,- EUR. You can search for your train connection here:
http://www.belgianrail.be/en/Default.aspx
Indicating:
- From: Brussels Airport - Zaventem
- To: Etterbeek
(If you arrive on Tuesday evening an need to go to the city center first, you can also use the train from the airport to reach Brussels center.)
Note for those coming by taxi: instruct the chauffeur to go to Pleinlaan 2/Avenue de la Plaine 2. Beware that there are both a Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), which are *not* the same university and not necessarily at the same location either. Our institute is at the VUB. Specify to the taxi driver the address above mentioned, if you just say to take you to the University he/she may take you to the wrong ULB campus.
If you come from your hotel in the city center, you can arrive by bus or metro. The connections are available here: http://www.vub.ac.be/sites/vub/files/campussen/112a_VUB_Etterbeek_1406.pdf
The closest stops are:
- metro 7, 25: stops "VUB" or "Etterbeek Gare"
- bus 95: stop "Etterbeek Gare"
You can plan your trip from the city center here: http://www.belgianrail.be/en/Default.aspx
inserting as arrival location: "ETTERBEEK GARE/ETTERBEEK STATION [STIB/MIVB]".
The workshop will take place in Building Q, in the Amphi B. A map to reach this room is displayed below, for instance for those arriving from Etterbeek train station.
If you arrive by metro (station Petillon is served by metro 5):
