Description

This year’s winter meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) took place in San Diego, California from 6-9 January 2018 and featured joint programming with the National Society of Hispanic Physicists.
Julia was invited to contribute a talk to the “Low-Cost Sensors and Detectors for Labs” session, which was entitled “3D-Printable Things in Particle Physics Education”. Jeff presented “An Alternative Proposal for the Graphical Representation of Anticolor Charge” during the “21st Century Physics in the High School Classroom” session. In addition, Julia presented a poster entitled “Hands-on & Minds-on Particle Physics in S’Cool LAB at CERN”.

During this presentation, we will briefly showcase our contributions and share insights from the conference. Specifically, we will present interesting observations and outcomes from our various meetings with different educators and policy makers. These should lead to a broad group discussion, which will conclude the PER seminar.
