Description
While the Long Baseline Neutrino Experiment (LBNE) may be
noted for its proposed massive far detectors and intense beamline, the near detector complex is just as critical to the success of the experiment. The near detectors help measure the beam flux, sample the initial flavor content of the beam, and characterize poorly measured background processes. Measurement of the electron neutrino content of the beam by the near detectors will constrain a critical background to studies of nu-e appearance. This poster will discuss the requirements
for nu-e measurements, and how this criteria will influence the design of the near detectors.
