Electronics (Michele):
- Reminder of specifications following recent meeting with ABP
- Good performance achieved with modified (not yet optimised) LN4 analogue front-end board and existing FESA server using SIS3301 module ADC clocked at 6.25MHz
- Alternatives discussed:
- 1) BI/RF ADC FMC on VXS carrier (not sure whether compatible with BI VFC) - SVEC an option?
- 2) Commercial ADC/FMC ordered from creotech (Greg Kasprovich) ordered - pending delivery. Not clear what is provided in terms of firmware support (https://www.ohwr.org/projects/fmc-adc-250m-16b-4cha-sw)
- 3) Stick with SIS3301 (possibly with higher sampling frequency)
-
- All options require design and production of analogue front-end electronics
- Options 1) and 2) both require firmware developments and changes to the FESA server. Jiri estimates that 2-3 weeks would be required
- Option 3) (only) requires changes to the front-end FESA server
Software (Guillaume):
- Succesful tests using 16k samples at 25 MHz read out within 200msec
- Open questions about effort required to integrate new VFC driver (how many registers?)
Next steps:
- Clarify support for creotech module and start (minimal) firmware development (Michele/Jiri)
- Decide which of the 3 options is better in terms of performance and development effort + cost
- Be able to demonstrate a working system based on the supported option(s) before LS2 starts
