Description
The bi-weekly meeting of the LHC librarians and LCG/AA projects
Attendees: Bertrand Bellenot, Andrea Valassi, Alexander Kalkhof, Emil Obreshkov, Andreas Pfeiffer, Stefan Roiser Excused: Hubert Degaudenzi News === - The migration of the AA external packages to Mac 10.6 is proceeding well. There are three packages which cannot be built anymore without major patching, i.e. qt, xercesc and python. We therefore propose to - move to Qt 4.6, XercesC 3.1.0 for ALL AA platforms - move to Python 2.6.2 for Mac 10.6 (and VC9) and stay with version 2.5.2 for the remaining ones. - LCG 58 has been released. It is already in use by LHCb. - A new source code cross referencing tool has been deployed at http://cern.ch/lcgsource . I.e. opengrok (Sun development) and contains the complete source code of all AA projects of the last 3 LCG release series (i.e. LCG 56 to 58) Round Table === Atlas --- - symbol stripping for gcc 4.3.2 is needed. At the moment we are facing a failure with missing symbols from gmp after stripping has been applied. -> Action Stefan - A oracle 11g library problem, on AMD opteron quad-core has been observed. It produces a crash. The suspicion is a missing switch for opteron platform in the source code. A service request will be opened to oracle by Andrea. - Atlas would like to have a look at the LCG 58 stack. Therefore the nighlties will be enabled in slot dev4 with slc5/32bit builds. CMS --- - Preparing release 3.5 for data taking - last release candidate and validation is currently in progress. - Trying to build with ROOT 5.26. The bulid has finished, validationm, tests and performance checking are pending. - Release validation done on slc5/64bit/gcc4.3.4 has been done Persistency --- - A new selinux problem with oci 64 bit has been detected with CMS. This is fixed with a postinstallation step changing the extended attribute - Marcin asking for POOL changes in the Collection packages, exposing public headers. The consequence is that probably some reshuffling of POOL packages (including renaming) will be done. Aob ===
