Description
Lepton flavor violation is not allowed in the Standard Model (SM), yet it has
been observed in the neutrino sector. The physics responsible for neutrino
oscillations and masses is still unknown and it may allow charged lepton flavor
violation (cLFV). Evidence for cLFV processes, strongly suppressed according to
the SM, would shed light on the nature of New Physics.
cLFV has been widely investigated but processes involving the top quark and the
Higgs boson have become directly accessible only recently at the ATLAS and CMS
experiments. The results of the latest ATLAS searches and their interpretation
will be presented, with particular attention to the top-quark sector.
