News about WinCC OA and Framework:
- decision to proceed WinCC OA 3.16 for LS2 and Run III, in particular that the FeaturePack2 (May 2019) will contain many features backported. Approved.
- JCOP Framework 8.3.0 released (with 8.3.0.1 addition)
CAN bridges and CANmodule library
- is NA62 still using CAN-PCI of Kvaser? Should migrate to something else?
- On Linux, use Systec drivers of ATLAS rather than the ones from the company, as it works better
- be very careful with upgrading Systec firmware, as recent versions are incompatible with older hardware.
- reconnection behaviour on power loss: not yet working for receiving part; may need further discussion; diagnostic channel might need to be put in place as well.
- User survey? Maybe we could drop support for Systec on Windows? That should eliminate unnecessary testing from the matrix
- LHCb: Make ISEG work with Systec? Needs to be re-tested; ATLAS seems to have a working setup, and it should be OK. in ALICE they would prefer Anagate instead of PEAK for ISEGs.
Update on Quasar:
- UASDK license: only necessary for development, not runtime
Status on OPC-UA Server from CAEN, Wiener and ISEG
- CAEN OPC-UA Server on Windows is ready in the lab. Ben awaiting contact from CMS and ALICE to assist them in first setup.
- CMS: no plans for ISEG... (ISEG on Windows only interesting for ALICE). A proof-of-concept of cross-platform to show it could be done on Windows too. Pending discussions with ISEG.
- Wiener: progress with weekly followup; restricted functionality at the moment; BE-ICS participating in the HAL development using canmodule.
CANOpen (ELMB) OPC-UA Server
- still using ATLAS' branch of CANmodule, yet covers the same functionality;
- releases available for Linux and Windows, yet no field experience on Windows. ATLAS ready to assist in deployment
- fwELMB 5.2.21 latest release that supports OPC-DA (WinCC OA 3.15). 8.0.4 for OPC-UA
- migration DA->UA: reset addresses to defaults (panel) ; backup of a project or DPL-export recommended before migration
- fwElmb generates the config file for OPC Servers; the format of this config file for DA and UA differ
- diagnostic tools for ELMB available in ATLAS, for Linux only (Qt); could be shared on demand
- Problems with ATLAS DCSELMB Wiki -> all CERN Twiki users should have access
- releases may be hosted on the central JCOP Fw pages - they need to accept gitlab; to be followed up between ATLAS and BE-ICS
- Slava remains main responsible for the OPC-UA Server, PiotrN for fwElmb
Update on FwCAEN
- do we need to upgrade firmware? Needs to be checked -> info available in a datapoint/panel
- links to CAEN firmware? We need to link to the page with recommendation; it is accumulated in the user manual.
Update on FwIseg migration to OPCUA
- change in OPC namespace when migrating to UA
- fwIseg 4.0.0. for OPC-DA, 5.0.0. for OPC-UA
- migration panel regenrates addresses
- should the migration be done in a postInstall: not much effort to press one button, hence no need

- UAExpert software => circulate links
- MPOD- contribution of EP/DT
- CTRL++ in 2 weeks: introduction and then an exchange. How about a seminar to train others?
In general, more consistency in accessing software from one place (at least per component)...
