Topology optimization with the help of FEM | Markus Aicheler & Matthew Capstick |
Students will receive an introduction to ANSYS and its tool Spaceclaim. Further, they will be given a design space and some mechanical constraints (e.g. maximum allowable weight). Within this frame they should develop a e.g. hook design maximising e.g. load. Once their design is fixed we will show them the corresponding ANSYS tool for automatic optimisation, 3D print their and the optimized solution and perform a mechanical test for evaluation. |

| Bendix Christian Harms & Lara Press-Lohrmann |
Automatic testing of electronics with Python | Severin Haas |
Students will learn how to write small scripts with the Python programming language and will then develop tools to enable independent interaction of developed electronic boards with signal sources and measurement equipment. Additionally, simple analysis tools should be prepared to display measurement results and save the results for later usage |

| Lars Jasper Longerich & Lucas Ethington & Paulina Seibel |
Introduction to fundamentals of Industrial Controls programming with Poppy Ergo Jr. | Matthias Braeger | Poppy Ergo Jr. is a little robot kit designed for introducing young programmers to the fundamentals of industrial controls programming. In this two week internship the students will learn step by step how to control Poppy's movements and let him execute little tasks. | Saskia Drechsel & Nahae Kühn |
Ion beam test stand for ISOLDE target development | David Leimbach | The students will assemble and commission a new ion beam extraction and detection system for our ion source test stand. A first application will be investigations towards the development of an atomic barium beam source | Diyar Hasso & Clarissa Christelle Schäfer & Quynh Hoa Pham |
