Description

The 'Arbeitstreffen Kernphysik' is a yearly meeting of members of German and international experts on nuclear science which goes back to 1970. The aim is to provide a regular review of progress in various subareas of nuclear science and to use this occasion to introduce young students and postdocs into the field.

The meeting is by invitation only and organized by the Schleching Organizing Committee, currently consisting of:

      Explosiver Vulkanismus. Experimentelle Ansätze 1h 30m

      Explosive vulkanische Ausbrüche sind ein immer wiederkehrendes Phänomen der Erdgeschichte und ein prähistorischer bzw. historischer Begleiter des Aufstiegs der Menschheit. Ihre Auswirkungen auf das Erdsystem bzw. der Menschheit ist lokal, regional und global zugleich. Die Verwaltung von vulkanischen Unruhen im Sinne von Zivilschutz passiert auf der Basis von Vulkanüberwachung. Ursachenforschung in der Vulkanüberwachung benötigt eine experimentell-herbeigeführtes mechanistisches Verständnis von Überwachungssignalen.

      Im Keller der Theresienstraße 41 (Tramhaltestelle Pinakothek) werden explosive Ausbrüche unter echten Ausbruchsbedingungen und an echten Magmen durchgeführt. Die Eigenschaften von Magmen bzw. Laven sind äußerst vielfältig und hängen im Wesentlichen von Chemismus, Temperatur und Deformationsrate ab.

      Die Ergebnisse der experimentellen Vulkanologie haben zu einem grundsätzlich revidierten Bild von explodierenden Bergen geführt, die wiederum einige Konsequenzen für die Zukunft unserer Koexistenz mit aktiven vulkanischen Systemen mit sich tragen.
