Dear participants of the MLHEP 2020 school,
Given the worldwide situation and traveling/gathering restrictions imposed, it is not possible to maintain the initially proposed format of the school at the EPFL campus. Nonetheless, we are delighted to inform you that we plan to organize the first fully online school edition this year. The school dates remain intact (July 16-31).
All the core lectures and hands-on exercise classes, as well as topical lectures, will be adapted to videoconference format. We envision a possibility to subdivide all participants to smaller groups for the exercises to offer the best instructor-student interaction efficiency. As usual, topical lectures with specific ML methods implementations in various fields will also be included in the course of the school.
The exact timetable of the school will be designed to take into account a new format and will be circulated in due time.
Unfortunately, all the social events will not take place, as one could expect, but the communication between the participants and teaming up to tackle the exercises is very much encouraged.
Finally, we will be able to accommodate all interested people in the school, but we also would like to add that the traditional offline school at the EPFL campus is postponed until next summer. So in case you prefer offline interaction, you are welcome to remove your registration and come back to us next year.
The registration form will remain open until the end of May so that you can modify your details accordingly. The registration fee is going to be reduced to 80 CHF equivalent, and it serves to cover access to necessary course infrastructure and to ensure the reasonable level of participants' devotion. The link for the payment will be available at the beginning of June.
We are looking forward to meeting all of you in July in our first virtual MLHEP school!
