Conditions for Participation

The School is open to young physicists, preparing a PhD or equivalent in high-energy physics, with at least one year's experience working as experimentalists or phenomenologists. The number of students will be about 100, mostly from CERN and JINR Member States, but a few may come from other countries which are not members.

Guidelines

The application form for the 2020 European School of High-Energy Physics should be completed and sent as soon as possible. The application includes a 100-word summary of the student's current work that will be taken into consideration in the selection process.

The submission of the completed application form must be accompanied in parallel by a letter of reference and ranking from the student's professor or supervisor (signed and dated with letterhead of referee's institution). Applications without a reference letter will not be considered. The letter should be sent to Kate Ross, the Schools Administrator (physics.school@cern.ch). The letter should be scanned and sent via email.

Please note that the letter of recommendation from the professor or supervisor should include a ranking of the candidate relative to other students in the HEP community at a similar stage in their careers.

Candidates should ensure that their application form and the letter of reference reach the Schools Administrator by 21 February 2020.
Please note we do not contact the supervisors for the reference letters, students must ask their supervisor to send the letter directly to Kate Ross (physics.school@cern.ch).

The selection of the students will be made by members of the International Organizing Committee together with the Local Director. All applicants will be informed in March 2020 whether or not they have been selected.
