Arrival by...
... train:
There are two different stations, Lille Flandres and Lille Europe, which are at walking distance from each other (a few hundred meters).
- From Lille Flandres station, the university is easily reached by subway (about 15 minutes - see subway access above).
- From Lille Europe station, you have first to reach Lille Flandres station, walking (recommended) or using the subway (line 2). Then reach the university using the subway (line 1).
... air:
-
The best option is likely to be arriving at Paris - Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG). The TGV station is located in Terminal 2. Take the train (TGV) to one of the Lille stations (Gare Lille Europe or Gare Lille Flandres). TGV trip duration: typically less than 55 minutes.
- If you are lucky, you may have got a flight to the nearest airport, Lille-Lesquin (LIL). The "navette" will bring you to Gare Lille Flandres (main station) where you can take the subway to reach the campus.
You may also have considered:
- Brussels-Zaventem airport (BRU). Transportation to Lille is best done by train (typically a local train to Brussels Midi, and then then a TGV to Lille - or other options). If you chose this solution, note that some particular trains (some Eurostar) may require a check-in in advance before departure. Please check the conditions on the train ticket and/or SNCF website.
... car:
- Lille can be (of course) also reached by car. If your trip passes near Brussels, Antwerp or Ghent, beware of the following. Entering these cities by car requires to register beforehand on the Belgian LEZ (Low Emission Zone) website. Otherwise the driver will be automatically charged with a 150€+ fine (whatever the type of car). Prior registration on the LEZ system is free and recommended. Even if not planned, entering one of those cities unwillingly regularly happens, e.g., because of a traffic diversion.
