Description
Higgs decay to WW leading to a final state of 2 leptons and missing energy constitutes one of the main Higgs search
channels at the LHC. A major background to the signal comes from W+jets events with a leptonic decay of the W and a
jet faking a lepton. We discuss methods to estimate such a background shape and normalization from real data, with
little reliance on Monte Carlo. The rate of the W+jets background in the 7 TeV real data is compared with
expectations from simulation.
