PS BGI Vertical meeting

Present: Didier, Damien, Gerhard, Hampus, James & Swann

-          Didier introduced Damien Bedat as new designer on the project. Damien: Welcome to the Vertical BGI Project !!!
-          The drawing produced by Didier/Damien with the main dimensions proved to be very useful, thank you for this!
-          Gerhard discussed with the main workshop the feasibility of an in-house manufacture. This is agreed now. Main milestones:
o   Material order September 2018 à General dimensions must be agreed by then
o   Full design file with all drawings signed by December 2018
o   Delivery of the vacuum chamber and flanges by August 2019.
o   The support of the chip and details of the “inserts” are not part of this delivery.
 
-          In order to keep the above planning, the ECR agreed by the impedance working group and BE-OP must be issued in October 2018
-          The length of the installed vacuum chamber should be checked by tape measure during the next technical stop (Action: James and Gerhard)
-          Swann confirmed that the global dimensions of the instrument are correct following his calculations
-          Swann proposed a number of simplifications and other changes towards a more robust design. Gerhard commented that only those should be considered that can be implemented in the remaining time before the end of the design fix.
-          Gerhard asked to check if all feedthrough connectors needed are already available. (Action: Swann and James will check and in case no, order what is necessary)
-          Didier said that the horizontal BGI drawings are now ready to be signed – this is a backlog from last design (Action: Gerhard, James and Swann: Check the drawings and give feedback)
-          Damien will give the step-file of the latest model to James for impedance checks and to hand over to Dominique for magnet integration. This should include the adjacent beam pipes, since there will be a sharp aperture change.
-          James proposed to find other possibilities than the Honey-combe shielding. Could a wire shielding (look like SEM grid) be efficient? à Ideas are welcome and to be checked
