17th WP5 Meeting

Europe/Zurich
Description

Topic: 17th WP5 Meeting

Federico Nguyen

Participation: ENEA, KIT, STFC, PSI, NOELL, ST, ALBA, KYMA, Strathclyde, UA-IAT

In order to assess the budgetary emulation of undulator modules order - as required by C. Rossi - follow-ups will be in charge of T. Schmidt with two representatives of Kyma (for the PMU modules) and in charge of A. Bernhard, M. Breitenbach and B. Shepherd (for the SCU modules).

N. Thompson shows some slides on

  1. undulator optimisations for the Afterburner line;
  2. tolerance studies on K errors for the SASE line: option to specify correlated vs. uncorrelated error sources.

T. Schmidt's presentation addresses the solution of a SASE line based on helical CPMU as an alternative to the SCU.

A good point in favour of this configuration is the possibility of using the same cryogenic infrastructure, in case of an Afterburner line consisting of a cryogenic Apple-X.

In any case, the issue of wakefields has to be carefully taken into account.

Discussion on eventual specific requests of linear polarisation rises. All agree to have a quick feedback with users and to share the outcomes via e-mail.

In any case, the baseline configuration to be described in the D5.2 deliverable remains to have both SXR and HXR operating with a SASE line based on helical SCUs and an afterburner line based on Apple-X

Most of the audience agrees to reconvene on Wednesday December 16th - 10AM Cern time
