Since its foundation stone was laid in 1955, CERN has become a “city within a city”, which must organise itself within the Franco-Vaud-Geneva conurbation. It must manage the impact of its operations on the region, particularly in terms of mobility, environment and landscape, and thus preserve the harmonious cohabitation of its scientific and industrial activities and the external environment.
The Masterplan proposes an overall vision that integrates CERN’s development needs. Since the first version of the 2030 Masterplan was published, numerous internal and external projects have brought about changes that warrant an update of the Plan.
On 9 June 2022, Raphael Bello, Director for Finance and Human Resources (FHR), and Mar Capeans, Head of the Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) department, will present the Masterplan 2040 to the CERN Community. They will be accompanied by Pippa Wells, Deputy Director for Research and Computing (RSC), Benoît Delille, Head of the HSE unit, and Michael Poehler, Leader of the Technical Office and Geomatics Section in the SCE department, to discuss CERN’s strategy to develop in harmony with the surrounding conurbation and the planned evolution of the sites.
Depuis la pose de sa première pierre en 1955, le CERN est devenu une « ville dans la ville », qui doit s'organiser au sein de l'agglomération franco-valdo-genevoise. Elle doit maîtriser l'impact de ses opérations sur le territoire, notamment en termes de mobilité, d'environnement et de paysage, et préserver ainsi une cohabitation harmonieuse de ses activités scientifiques et industrielles et de l'environnement extérieur.
Le Masterplan propose une vision globale qui intègre les besoins de développement du CERN. Depuis la publication de la première version du Masterplan 2030, de nombreux projets internes et externes ont entraîné des changements qui justifient une mise à jour dudit plan.
Le 9 juin 2022, Raphael Bello, Directeur des Finances et Ressources Humaines (FHR), et Mar Capeans, Chef du département Site & Civil Engineering (SCE), présenteront le Masterplan 2040 à la communauté du CERN. Ils seront accompagnés de Pippa Wells, Directrice adjointe pour la Recherche et l'Informatique (RSC), de Benoît Delille, Chef de l'unité HSE, et de Michael Poehler, responsable du bureau technique et de la section géomatique du département SCE, pour discuter de la stratégie du CERN pour se développer en harmonie avec le paysage urbain environnant et l'évolution envisagée des sites.
