Description

The Science for Peace Schools are designed to encourage participants from various parliaments to work together and experience, in person, the scientific cooperation model. The advanced training scheme will focus on an evidence-based approach in addressing global and regional challenges. Such an approach, integrated with operational and collaborative models derived from the world of scientific cooperation, will allow for the application of dynamic solutions without the complexity of politics and will facilitate the engagement of participants in peace projects. With easing of health restrictions, CERN and the IPU have decided to organise the first in-person Science for Peace Schools in December 2022, in order for parliamentary secretariat representatives to benefit from close, in-person coordination over several days, allowing for meaningful exchange.

The primary objective of the IPU Science for Peace Schools is to realise the vision of unity through science for the purpose of peace, by the establishment of parliamentary networks that will serve as platforms for dialogue between parliaments on the subjects related to the core objectives of the IPU.

The Schools will serve as a launch pad for the parliamentary networks and as a platform for exchanges of experiences and expertise on science and technology between parliaments of different regions. Participants from various parliaments will be encouraged to work together to address challenges related to the topic of the session collectively. They will subsequently act as focal points for the parliamentary networks and meet on a regular basis to support the networks on specific projects.
