Around Seattle

Seattle is a big city and there is a lot going on. First, some 'hoods:

  • University - you are already there. This is where the university is. Lots and lots of good restos, catering to students and others in the university district. You can find good food and decent prices. If you use google maps to look for high end restos along the water near by you'll find both high end and more reasonable priced places. Many of them need reservations, however!
  • Freemont - "the center of the universe" - probably one of the best places to find pubs and just relax - outside with a beer. And see the troll under the bridge! Lots of great food too. Accessible by Uber or bus.
  • Capitol Hill - A number of restaurants that could be stared (Violet, Lark, etc.). Lots of bars and dance clubs. Accessible by Light Rail.
  • PikePlace Market - Famous toursit spot. If you go, make sure to visit the lower levels of the market. This market is both a tourist trap and used by locals (we often bought dinner ingredients every nice when we lived down there). The lower levels have all sorts of hidden treasures. And then walk down and across to the waterfront. Great reasturants and sights - including the ferris wheel. Also, take a ferry to one of the islands (Bainbridge!) for dinner. Acessible by Light Rail (the stop is Western).

In all cases - use google maps. It is well integrated with the local transportation system!
