Travel Insurance/ Health insurance
As previously stated; Students should make sure they have a social insurance (travel insurance) during their travel to and from CERN and during their contractual stay. Repatriation should be included in their travel insurance as a minimum.
All summer students must fill out a medical questionnaire and send it to the medical service before arrival (ideally before 1st of May). You received this form in your acceptance email.
Should you fall sick or have an accident, you are insured by the CERN UNIQA insurance for the duration of your contract with CERN. For further details please consult the CERN Health Insurance website.

Click here for doctors in Switzerland (in general, go to see the doctor in France, it is much cheaper). For emergencies, you should go to the Hopital de La Tour, which is just down the road from CERN on the Swiss side. Please remember to inform the doctor that you are insured by UNIQA, the insurance number is the same as your CERN registration number.

If you need medical advice, contact the Medical service's infirmary: infirmary.service@cern.ch (Tel. + 41 22 76 73802). It is open Monday to Friday 8.00 - 12.30 | 13.30 - 17.00.
Otherwise, you should contact the Medical Service (tel. +41 22 76 73186) or the Social Affairs Service (+41 22 76 74201).
Please note that the CERN Medical service is available mainly for occupational health problems.
NOTE: The access card that you will have during your summer student contract, must be worn at all times on the CERN site. In case of any emergency at CERN – the emergency nr. is +41 22 76 74444
