The University of Coimbra
The University of Coimbra (UC) is a Portuguese public higher education institution with more than 700 years of experience in education, training and research. The UC was classified as World Heritage by the UNESCO in 2013 for its role as the centre of production of Portuguese language literature and thinking and for the universal value of its campus, which dates back to the 16th century. Travelling to Coimbra
Airplane Coimbra is 100 km away from Porto/Oporto and 200 km from Lisboa/Lisbon, both cities having an international airport. Although Lisboa has more connections to European capitals, Oporto also offers good connections.
From either airport you can use:
Train the metro (running every 5-10 min in Lisboa and every ~20 min in Porto) to the railway stations of Lisboa-Oriente (Lisboa; 5-10 min) or Porto-Campanhã (Oporto; ~ 40 min), respectively. Then you take the fast trains ("Alfa Pendular" (AP) or "Inter-cidades" (IC) to Coimbra (1h35 to 1h50 from Lisboa; or 1h from Porto), that depart every hour in average, timetables and prices can be found here https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en/train-times.

Bus
Rede Expresso : https://rede-expressos.pt/en/timetables if departing from Lisbon airport: select Lisbon(Oriente). You can reach "Oriente" by metro (3 stops from the airport station); if departing from Porto, select Porto(Aeroporto).
Flixbus https://www.flixbus.pt if departing from Lisbon airport: select Aeroporto de Lisboa. if departing from Porto, select Aeroporto Francisco Sá Carneiro.
Car Not necessary in Coimbra but if you choose this option expect about 1h30m ride from Porto and 2h30m from Lisbon to central Coimbra.
Each city has its own public transport system. If you need to use bus in Coimbra each ride is 2 euros (buy ticket from the bus driver) or you buy a yellow SMTUC card (1 euro) and charge it with 10 rides (0.64 euro per ride).
