Description
Measurements of dijet kinematic correlations in heavy ion collisions provide insight into the mechanisms of jet quenching by the quark-gluon plasma. The sensitivity to medium-induced modifications such as dijet $p_T$ asymmetries and angular decorrelations is expected to be enhanced at RHIC, due to the tighter initial kinematic correlations, compared to those at the LHC. This presentation details measurements of dijet momentum imbalance $x_J$ and azimuthal correlations $\Delta\phi$ in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 200$ GeV using the sPHENIX calorimeter system, including the subtraction of the underlying event and corrections for contributions from a flow-modulated combinatorial background to dijet azimuthal correlations. The results for anti-$k_{t}$ $R=0.3$ jets are fully unfolded for detector effects and compared between Au+Au and $p$+$p$ collisions. The experimental data are also compared with jet quenching theoretical and Monte Carlo calculations.
