Description

Jet shape observables probe the internal structure of jets and are sensitive to differences between quark- and gluon-initiated radiation patterns, and thus they provide insight into the parton-to-jet fragmentation process. This poster presents a feasibility study of differential and integrated jet shapes in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV, using calorimeter-reconstructed jets in the sPHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Using Monte Carlo simulations, we assess the potential to perform these crucial tests of perturbative QCD and quantify non-perturbative effects in a detector environment without full particle tracking. The methodology developed in this study will be applied to sPHENIX proton-proton data collected in 2024.
