Description
The sPHENIX experiment is a next-generation collider detector at RHIC that completed data taking in early 2026, collecting large data sets in 200 GeV p+p and Au+Au collisions. sPHENIX is designed to study rare jet and heavy flavor probes of the Quark-Gluon Plasma using full calorimetry and tracking. In addition to calorimeter-triggered events, a unique hybrid and 100% streaming readout scheme for the tracking system allows unbiased p+p tracking data to be recorded at rates of up to 800 kHz. The resulting data sample is very large and unbiased, and provides access to open heavy flavor decays that cannot be conventionally triggered on, opening up significantly new physics capabilities in p+p collisions at RHIC. In this talk we will describe the streaming readout of the tracking detectors, the reconstruction approach, and the evaluated performance.
