Description
The inclusive hadronic width of the tau lepton can be rigorously analysed with quantum-field-theory techniques. Precise experimental measurements of the invariant-mass distribution of the final hadrons make possible to perform an accurate low-energy determination of the strong coupling and extract useful information about non-perturbative QCD parameters. An overview of the current status will be presented.
