KOTOII Workshop

After the KAON25 Conference a 3-day workshop dedicated to the KOTOII experiment will take place in Mainz. The workshop will start on Sunday 14th of September (in the afternoon) and end on Tuesday 16th of September. Please visit the workshop website for more information.

A link to the workshop website will be published on this page on a later stage.

KOTOII is new proposed experiment at J-PARC (Japan) to measure the branching ratio of the decay of a neutral kaon to a neutral pion and a neutrino-antineutrino pair KL → 𝜋o𝜈𝜈¯ . The decay is predicted within the Standard Model (SM) with a branching ratio of 3 x 10-11 and a theoretical uncertainty of about 2%. The KOTOII experiment aims to measure the branching ration with a sensitivity below 10-12 in 2030s, achieving a 5sigma discovery of the decay assuming the SM branching ratio. Furthermore, studies of other rare/forbidden neutral kaon decays (e.g. the not yet observed KL → 𝜋oe+e-), as well as, searches for New Physics beyond the Standard Model (e.g. searches for dark photons, axion-like particles, ...) will be conducted at KOTOII.

The KOTOII proposal is available here.
