Description
Several methods are presented that reconstruct charged particles with lifetimes between 10 ps and 10 ns in real-time. One of the methods considers a combination of their decay products and the partial tracks created by the initial charged particle. The other methods do not require the reconstruction of the decay products of the charged particles, hence enabling the reconstruction of decays involving charged $\Sigma^-$ baryons for the first time and that of $\Sigma^+$ baryons with greatly improved efficiency.
The methods have been implemented in the LHCb second level trigger, and their applicability is demonstrated for the first time with data collected during Run 3 of the LHC.
