Description

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) requires a precise knowledge of the electric field in its liquid argon time projection chambers to control systematic uncertainties in energy reconstruction and track topology. ProtoDUNEs at CERN provide full‑scale test‑beds to develop and validate calibration strategies for the DUNE far detector. A steerable UV‑laser system has been installed to generate straight, well‑defined ionization tracks throughout the detector volume, enabling detailed studies of electric‑field distortions and charge transport properties in liquid argon. In this contribution, I will present the current status of the UV‑laser calibration program in ProtoDUNE‑HD, including progress on laser‑track reconstruction and initial assessments of drift velocity and electric‑field response. I will discuss the analysis techniques developed to quantify spatial distortions and drift‑time variations, as well as comparisons with dedicated simulation studies. Finally, I will outline the next steps toward a full electric‑field map and how these efforts are being integrated into the DUNE calibration framework to improve the accuracy of physics analyses in the far detector.
